BECOME AN ADVANCED FOOT CARE NURSE(AFCN)

Potential candidates for the Advanced Foot Care Course must be a Nurse, holding an active Canadian license. LPN, RN, NP, RPN in good standing with your regulatory body. 

The course is active for 3 months once started. This allows flexibility to complete the course at whatever time works best for you!

The AFCN Course is broken down into two(2) major components. The theory component  is part one(1). This part can be completed online at your own pace. 

The course curriculum covers everything included in the competencies put forward by the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses.

Unit 1-Introduction To Advanced Foot Care

Unit 2-Career Opportunities

Unit 3-Anatomy of the Lower Leg and Foot

Unit 4-Foot And Nail Conditions

Unit 5- Infection Prevention And Control, And Medical Device Reprocessing

Unit 6- Bio-mechanics, Footwear, And Orthotics 

Unit 7-Diabetic Foot Care Management 

Unit 8-Wound Care

Unit 9-Nursing Foot Care Skills

Unit 10- Policies And Procedures, And Foot Health Assessment

Unit 11-Podiatry Instruments And Foot Care Supplies

Unit 12- Clinical Skills Training

Part two(2) of the course is the practical/ clinical component. 

Upon completion of the theory component, students will be required to complete a clinical preceptor-ship with one of our Advanced Foot Care Nurses, or an Advanced Foot Care Nurse in your area. 

If you complete your preceptor-ship locally (In Clarenville, NL) with us, the duration will be two(2) days.

If you choose to go with another nurse in your area for your preceptor-ship, you will be required to return to us a completed Alternate Clinical Educator Form. Contact us directly for more information if you are thinking about choosing this channel and need assistance finding a preceptor.

Tuition fees for this program are $1,975.00 CAD + tax, payable to Solemate Footcare upon acceptance.

This registration fee includes the cost of the instruments that will be provided for the two (2) day clinical in Clarenville, NL.

* Note: Payments by credit card are charged an extra processing fee of 2.50%, in addition to the tuition cost.

For the duration of the clinical component, student's will be required to obtain personal liability and malpractice insurance. This can be done through Lloyd Sadd Insurance Brokers Ltd.

There is no refund of the tuition fee once paid and started the program.
